Me
I am William Højholt-Mouridsen, an 18-year-old photographer from Helsingør, Denmark. My journey into photography began with my dad’s Sony NEX-5R, where I quickly learned to shoot fully manually. Experimenting with different settings, I became fascinated by how a camera could freeze a moment and tell a story.
As I explored photography further, I discovered the power of black and white imagery. The work of great black and white photographers—especially Alan Schaller—was a turning point for me. His mastery of contrast, light, and composition made me realize that black and white photography could strip away distractions and focus purely on emotion and form. Motivated by this insight, I started shooting exclusively in black and white, challenging myself to see the world through a different lens and refining my style.
Upgrading to a Sony A7 IV marked a significant milestone in my photography journey. With the enhanced creative control this camera offered, I began to hone my ability to capture depth, mood, and storytelling through the interplay of light and shadow. My work now centers on high-contrast, dramatic compositions that emphasize raw emotion and the relationship between people and their environments.
